Last night's Ashtanga yoga class at Corpo Yoga Studio was especially wonderful as it ended in a savasana that I had never experienced before. The savasana was a "joint savana with crystal bowls". "Joint" because our Ashtanga teacher and the Vinyasa teacher (on the other side of the accordion wall), opened the accordion wall so that the two classes could experience the crystal bowls savana together. The teacher "playing" the crystal bowls suggested we think of positive intentions during the savasana.
Once the crystal bowls started "playing", the vibrational frequency increased to the point that the sound was super loud. It was a wonderful feeling to have the loud crystal vibrations along with the racing, positive intention thoughts that seemed to be deepening, floating and swirling with the crystal vibrations. Enveloping you in a sort of sound wave that is so strong that you feel like you might want to cover your ears (although the teacher has already asked us not to cover our ears).
The most beautiful part was the connecting quality of the crystal bowls that served both "classes" by uniting us beyond the division of Ashtanga and Vinyasa (two sides of the same large room divided by names (Ashtanga and Vinyasa) and a human-made divider in the form of a moveable accordian wall. The universality of sound that united us all.
Just like the universality of music unites us all across the world, breaking down language barriers and other human-made barriers.
I look forward to sharing savasana of many types across the world with you on our retreats so sign up for our upcoming Yummy Arts Yoga Retreats! to enjoy yoga, arts & delicious food, exploring country after country, with a bunch of great new friends!
